Different Printing for Different Projects

Universal Printing and Design offers a wide array of printing options to best suit your project needs. Smaller orders might be better suited for a direct printing option, where as large bulk orders can be best fulfilled by screen printing. No matter the project, UPD is here to help you chose the best option to fit your vision and budget.

Direct-to-Garment Printing

Direct to Garment printing is fast, high-quality, and offers an enormous color range. With DTG printing there is little to no set up, and gives us the capability to produce smaller quantities than screen printing. Think of it like a giant inkjet printer for your computer. DTG works best on higher cotton content items, and lighter color bases.

Screen Printing

Screen printing is a high quality option for larger orders. It has dominated the apparel printing market for years due to its durability and color options. Screen printing is the process of pushing thick ink through a mesh screen to create soft and durable items. While a wide array of colors are available for screen printing, the process limits the number of colors that can be used. It is also a good option for darker shirts as the thick ink pops. This typically has a minimum order amount as the process is a bit more involved.

Sublimation Printing

Sublimation is the process of printing to a film and then heating the design to an item. This isn’t just your typical heat transfer that will peel with one wash, but rather the ink turning to a gas and fusing to the garment to become apart of the material. Sublimation works best on polyester or poly blend items. This is ideal for smaller quantity orders.

Direct-to-Film & Screen Print Transfers

Direct-to-film (DTF) and Screen Print Transfers consist of printing directly on to a heat release film rather than to a garment. This allows the client to take the designs and apply them to their own items with a heat press, or can be pressed here in shop. DTF also allows for some design flexibility with a wide array of color options. Both transfers offer a low price point while maintaining quality design.

Vinyl

While Universal Printing does not offer Vinyl printing for apparel, we do offer vinyl options for accessories like cups and mugs. Vinyl printing creates colorful options, and while not the most durable, it is a fast and affordable option to bring your ideas to life.
